CORNING - Amelia O. (Mickie) Dieter, 69 years, of 212 Chestnut St., died Thurs afternoon May 27, 1999, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born July 10, 1929 in Rathbone, NY, the daughter of Melvin & Dorothy Culver Hyer.

A lifetime resident of the area, attending the Savona & Bath School Systems.

Mickie and James G. Dieter were married Aug 6, 1979 in Corning.

She was employed with Corning Inc., working in the Quality Control Dept., retiring in 1987 with 37 years service and was a member of the Flint Glass Workers Union Local 1000. Mickie was a member of several bowling leagues and was a co-founder of the Wed Night NewComers League.

Surviving: her husband, James of 20 years; sons, Carl Gene M. (Shirley) Overhiser, James C. (Cindy) Overhiser II and Marion J. Overhiser, all of Savona and Dominic A. (Kathy) Lisi of Corning; daughters, Jody C. (Donald) Best and Joy E. (Frederick) Goodsell, all of Savona; step-son, James D. Dieter of Corning; step-daughter, Peggy J. (Deland) Butler of Corning and Connie Wood of Addison. Special nephew, Milton (Cindy) Evans of Corning; sisters, Averil Zyla of Hammondsport and Julia Hilligus of Dundee; brothers, Irving (Irma) Bergeron of FL., William (Nellie) Hyer, Thomas (Ruby) Hyer and Richard (Patricia) Hyer all of Bath. Twenty one grandchildren: Michael & John Gosper II, Stacey & James Overhiser III, Jake & Jill Smith, Jayde and Jasmyn Goodsell, Devin, Nichole & Kianna Lisi, Patricia & Anthony Evans, Brian, Berry, Melissa Johnson, Jeremiah & Farrell Butler, Shivon Keagle and Logan Deiter. Thirteen g-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. Special Friends; Doug, Rita and Annemarie Keagle of Gang Mills and Brandy Sharp of Addison.

She is predeceased by her parents; brother, David Hyer and sisters Irene Palmer and Patricia Evans.

A Funeral Service will be held at Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First St., Corning, Sat, May 29, 1999 at 1 pm. Committal Prayers and Interment will be at Chapel Knoll Cemetery, Coopers Plains.

The family would appreciate Memorial Donations be given to the Savona Fire Dept, c/o Carl Gene Overhiser, McCoy Street, Savona, NY 14879.
