He was born April 30, 1916, in Chicago, a son of Harry and Anna Stressenreuter Alm. He married Jean Alyce Stanton on April 10, 1948, in Chicago. Jean died April 3, 2002.

He is survived by a daughter, Laurie Christensen, Normal; a son, Dr. Walter (Renee) Alm, Palatine; four grandchildren, Sarah Christensen, Chicago; Matt Christensen, Champaign; Dana Alm, Rolling Meadows; and Drew Alm, Chicago; and a brother, John (Eleanor) Alm, Marine City, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, where he sang in the Chapel Choir for several years.

Adolph began his working career right out of high school, hired on as an office boy for Dearborn Chemical Co. in Chicago. He was drafted into World War II into the Army Air Corps, where and was stationed in India. He loved to talk about his time spent in 'CBI' and he and Jean went to many reunions with his squadron that took him throughout the United States. They thoroughly enjoyed these trips. After the war he went back to the same company, which eventually became WR Grace, and spent over 50 years with the same firm.

Adolph and Jean moved from Chicago to Bloomington in 1995, where they had many wonderful years together creating new friends and memories.

Everybody that came in contact with Adolph, even for a few minutes, loved him. He was the cutest and sweetest man on the face of the earth. He made an impact on the lives of everyone he met. He loved to talk to anyone and was especially willing to share his stories and his love of Chicago. He was so wise, and if we can all take a few lessons from Adolph's book, we will all be better for it. Raise your glass and make a toast to Adolph, because we are all sure he is already enjoying himself!
