Ora M. Shields
STERLING - Ora M. Shields, 79, died June 23, 1994 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
He was born July 24, 1914, at Lebanon, the son of Milton and Elizabeth Malone Shields. He received a graduate degree and master's degree from Emporia State Teachers College. A longtime Sterling resident, he was a retired educator and superintendent of USD 376, Sterling. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Rotary Club, both at Sterling, and the National Education Association. He was a veteran of World War II, having services in the United States Navy. On June 8, 1940, he married Ada Lou Forrester at Oklahoma City. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Mark A., Marlton, N.J.; two grandsons, Bryan Shields, Houston, and Alex De Rario, Mesa, Ariz. Funeral will be a 2 p.m. Monday at Sterling United Methodist Church with the Rev.
James Graves presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Porter-Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling, burial will be in the Sterling Community Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Joe Henry Golf Course or the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home.
