Abbie Lyn Ankrum, 6, of Pierre, South Dakota, died Tuesday, August 10, 1999, at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Services were held Saturday, August 14, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pierre, with Father Hal Barber officiating. Interment was in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Miller, South Dakota.
Abbie Lyn Ankrum was born July 20, 1993, in Sioux Falls, to Perry and Sandra (Peck) Ankrum. She grew up in Pierre and went to Early Childhood Development at Jefferson School.
Abbie was exuberant about life. She loved going to the park with her mom and dad, listening to Shania, dancing, playing store, swinging, Barbies and playing ball. She enthusiastically recruited everyone in sight to join in on the fun.
Learning new things excited Abbie, and she was looking forward to starting kindergarten.
She was a great helper, and was her mom and dad's best assistant with any kind of chore.
Abbie had lots of spirit and spunk. She inspired everyone with her courage and strength. She touched the lives of everyone she met, blessing them with her presence.
Abbie is survived by her parents, Perry and Sandra Andrum of Pierre; grandparents, Merle and Betty Jean Andrum of Sioux Falls, and Jim and Shirley Peck of St. Lawrence; great-grandparents, Frances Winters and Theresa Peck, both of Miller; and numerous aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Les and Minnie Ankrum, Nellie VanBalen, Mike Maile and Raymond Peck; and an uncle, Michael Peck.
