Herbert Christ Bettenhausen, son of Christ and Amelia Bettenhausen, married Gladys I Cappel in 1932. He was a member of a noted auto-racing family and the brother of race car driver Tony Bettenhausen, who was killed in a 1961 auto accident. Herbert was initially a farmer, and later founded Bettenhausen Motor Sales, an auto dealership, in Tinley Park.
