He appears on the 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850, and 1860 censuses in North Kingstown, living in Lafayette in 1860. His known or suspected children are:
* George Nichols, b. 1799, m. Mercy Nichols
* Joseph, b. 1802, d. 11 Feb 1843 in 41 year, m. Ruth Fry, b. 1802, d. 30 April 1888 in her 87 year.
* Elizabeth, b. 27 April 1805, d. 7 Aug 1865, m. William S. Weeden, b. 1801, d. 15 July 1853 (?)
* Susan (according to Gardiner genealogy)
* Mary, b. 1810, on 1850 and 1860 census with her father
The following were with him on the 1850 census, and were sons of his deceased son, George N. Arnold:
* Jonathan N., b. 1824
* John F., b. 1832
Samuel G. Arnold and Richard Arnold may both be sons of Jonathan who each have a child buried in his family cemetery.
