Willard Benjamin Beatty Sr.

Willard Benjamin Beatty, Sr., age 90, a long time resident of Colorado Springs passed away at his home on Feb 25, 2011. Willard was born on March 15, 1920 on a farm in Canadian County, Oklahoma, a son of the late, Benjamin and Nora Beatty. Willard retired from the Air Force in 1966 after serving 23 years. He then worked for the Post Office, then for Civil Service at Peterson Field until his retirement 1976. He was a former owner of the Beatty Café on Pikes Peak Ave in Colorado Springs. Willard and his first wife, Bessie, were avid RVer's and had traveled all over Europe and the United States. He continued his RV travels with his second wife, Angela. Willard reported the last 30 years of service to First United Methodist Church as the best years of his life. He wants to be remembered as the Andrew Minister who faithfully and cheerfully greeted the congregation of the church and for the many other volunteer services he provided to the church. Willard is survived by his wife of 19 years, Angela Beatty, Colorado Springs a daughter, Lois Ann Phillips, Colorado Springs, sons, Willard B. (Gayle) Beatty Jr., Paul E. (Trish) Beatty, both of Denver, grandchildren, Kent (Lupita) Hoback, Catherine Jo Hoback, Paul N. Beatty, Suzanne Beatty, Michelle Beatty, great-grandson, Ryan Hoback. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Bessie Florence Beatty in 1991, twin sons, Johnny and Joe, brothers, Lee Dale Beatty and Lloyd Beatty. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM with funeral services at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at First United Methodist Church at 420 North Nevada, Colorado Springs 80903. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. Willard requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wills and Memorials at First Methodist Church. Willard wants you to know that he will be eternally grateful for the love and fellowship he received from the congregation. His life can be summed up by saying that he was a loving, faithful and devoted husband and father and a cheerful servant of God.
