Funeral services for John R. Everhart, 62, who was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head Wednesday at his home at 2106 N. Wolfe, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Meeks Mortuary. The Rev. Paul Vise, pastor of Christian Chapel, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday or prior to services Saturday.

Mr. Everhart formerly lived at 1706 S. Manhattan. He was a native of Randolph County and spent his early years near Farmland before coming to Muncie as a young man. For more than 13 years before his retirement, he was employed by Corrugated Containers and Sheets Co. Earlier he was employed by the Butterfield Canning Co.

His wife, Naomi O. Everhart, died in 1978.

Surviving are four stepsons, Charles and Keith Morvilius, both of Muncie, William Morvilius, Sarasota, Fla., and Jerry Johnson, Muncie; a sister, Mrs. Martha Dishner, Farmland; a brother, Marvin Everhart, Farmland; 14 stepgrandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
