ABBS VALLEY, Va.--Opie McKinney, 63, of Bowman Rd., Abbs Valley, Va., passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va. Born in Blair, W. Va., he was the sone of the late Frank McKinney Sr. and Virginia McKinney. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a retired coal miner of thirty years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son a dear friend. He was a man that hunted, fished and loved spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Phillip McKinney; and two brothers, George "Ty Ty" McKinney and Frank McKinney Jr.

Survivors include wife, Carol McKinney fo the home' granddaughter, Samantha Noel of the home; one daughter, Lisa Dollinger and her husband Robert Dollinger, Jr. of Nemours, W.Va.; one son, Brian McKinney and wife Stephanie McKinney of Abbs Valley, Va.; grandchildren, Chelsea Dollinger and Laken McKinney; and a dear friend, Mark Hill.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. Internment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Friends may call Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. Pallbearers will be Mike McKinney, Robert Dollinger, Johnny Matusevich, Joe Short, Bobby McKinney, Randy McKinney, Steven Mullens and Mark Hill. The Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. is serving the McKinney family.
