1895 Register of Funerals:
Mrs. T. J. Harris - Married
Residence: Fort Mill
Place of Burial: Fort Mill
Date of Burial: November 24th
Remarks: Heart Failure
Source: Personal Registers of Rev. Dr. James H. Thornwell, pastor of Unity Presbyterian Church (Fort Mill) and Ebenezer Presbyterian Church (Ebenezer). In the collection of the York County Library Reference/Genealogy department.
------------------------------------
Died sometime after July 1891.
Youngest known child (Mary) born in 1889 or 1890 (delayed birth certificate and tombstone don't agree). Lula is not listed on the 1900 census.
Daughter Mary's delayed birth certificate form (1955) says they could not use the family Bible as proof due to it being "destroyed by fire". The same form says that her father was 56 at death, and her mother was aged 32 at death. Because there was no Bible record Mary's older cousins Van Dawson Potts and Margaret Lavinia Potts Davidson testified to the accuracy of her birthdate on the document.
Died prior to June 24, 1899. (Mother's obituary reads... "and one a married daughter, Mrs. Harris, an estimable woman, died a few years ago.")
"Mrs. Lula Harris, and Miss Lily Harris, of Union, and Miss Peal Gordon, of Rock Hill, paid a visit to Rev. and Mrs. Willeford last week."
(Union Times - Friday, July 10, 1891)
Possible hint? Her sister Ida named a daughter born Feb. 10, 1896 "Lula." Namesake?
Where is she buried? (marked? unmarked?)
In 1905 her husband was buried at the Fort Mill city cemetery.
Neither she nor her husband have a marker or cenotaph in any cemetery in the area.
