Funeral services for Helen Berniece Briggs, 85, will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Gorman Funeral Homes ? Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyo., with the Rev. Linda Wells of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Helen Briggs, a resident of Douglas, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at her home surrounded by her loving, caring family.

She was born March 29, 1921, in Strang, Okla., the daughter of Harvey Allen Price and Hanna Mae Price. She was reared and educated in Oklahoma and graduated valedictorian of the Childers High School in Childers, Okla.

She was married to Floyd John Briggs on Aug. 2, 1941. They resided in Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, Montana and Colorado during their married life. They moved to Colorado and resided in Sterling from 1956 to 1968, and then moved to Douglas.

She enjoyed gardening, camping, baking, playing the piano, reading the Bible and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd, of Douglas; children, Gail and husband Bill Tschacher of Douglas, Sharon and husband Dan Orange of Riverton, Wyo., and Charles W. Briggs of Johnstown; sister, Betty Parrett of Nowata, Okla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons, Ronald Dean Briggs and Gary Glen Briggs; her brother, Virgil Price; and sisters, Grace Hicks and Hildred Gilipin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Tschacher, Chuck Briggs, Todd Tschacher, Harold Johnson, Dan Orange and John Stearns.

A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.
