"Margaret C. Oates of Diamond Springs passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011. She was born in Rosewood, Ky., on July 8, 1922, to Odis and Ethel (Cornette) Carver. On May 11, 1940, she married Lawrence G. Oates in Owensboro, Ky.
Although she enjoyed church, gardening, sewing, bowling and working at the apple barn, she enjoyed time spent with her family most of all. Those who mourn her passing are her husband, Lawrence; her sisters, Thelma (John) Sherrod of Greenville, Ky., and Jean Westerfield of Cadiz, Ky.; her daughters, Dianna (Bob) Link of Bangor, Calif., and Cheri (Norm) Ironside of Granite Bay, Calif.; her son, Gary (Patricia) Oates of Verona, Wis.; her seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service for family and friends will be held at the Pollock Pines Community Church, 6361 Pony Express Trail in Pollock Pines on Monday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception at the church. Interment will be held at 1 p.m., at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, 2720 Cold Springs Road in Placerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Heart Assoc. Friends may sign a guestbook and leave condolences at chapelofthepinesfunerals.com. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home in Placerville."
