He was my grandmother's first husband and my mother's father. He abandoned my grandmother and his four children in the early 1940's and was not seen again until 1972. At some point he changed his name to Ray Cox, remarried and had several children. He claimed to have been in the Merchant Marines and the real "Ray Cox" was a friend of his who died. Why he changed his name is anyone's guess.
