Rockdale, Tex., Dec. 6. -- After a lingering illness of several months R.H. Hicks died at his home here this morning. Mr. Hicks was a member of the state penitentiary board and a partner of the firm of Scarbrough & Hicks of several towns of this section of the state. He lived a Christian life, a member of the Baptist Church of this place. Deceased leaves a wife, two sons and one daughter, besides a number of more distant relatives. Austin, Tex., Dec. 6. -- Advices were received here today of the death of R.H. Hicks of Rockdale. Mr. Hicks was a member of the penitentiary board and was also well known here because of his connection with the firm of Scarbrough & Hicks, a prominent mercantile establishment of this city. Mr. Hicks was a warm personal friend of Governor Campbell, who will attend his funeral if possible. Galveston Daily News, December 7, 1910
