November 5, 1913 - May 4, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Thelma Georgia Dyer-Hokett joined her Heavenly Father May 4, 2011 at the age of 97. She was born November 5, 1913 in Piggott, Arkansas to George and Charlotte Cagle. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 7, at Olivet Baptist Church, 1201 NW 10 St., OKC, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Thelma graduated from Cooperton High School in 1932. Shortly after graduation she moved to OKC, and on March 30, 1937 she married Vernie M. Dyer and had 3 children. He preceded her in death in July of 1989. In March, 1991, she married Lester N. Hokett, who preceded her in death in 2003. She has been a member of Olivet Baptist Church for 63 years, teaching Sunday School classes for all ages. She was a member of the Melodears, and loved to sing. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her Lord, and lived that in all she did. She continued to serve the Lord in teaching and singing after moving to Tulsa. In 2008, she was crowned Mrs. Senior Oklahoma in Tulsa, OK. She is survived by her children, Gerald Dyer and wife Nancy, Phyllis Curry and husband Gary, Bobby Dyer and wife Elzene, and Verna Ormiston; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She leaves a legacy of lives touched by her love and devotion to Jesus Christ. The family will receive visitors at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm Friday, May 6.
