Allen M. Clingerman, 83, of Hancock, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born January 19, 1925 in Hancock, he was the son of the late Marshall and Sylvia Clingerman Trail and the husband of Catherine Golden Clingerman who died September 5, 2003.

He was retired from Letterkenny Army Depot as an Ammunition Supervisor.

He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army receiving the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon.

He was a life member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion Hancock, where he was responsible for the Missile Placement in front of the post. He was a life member of the VFW Post 10502, Hancock. He was a member of the Forty-eight, Hagerstown, Md. He was a life member of the DAV and a life member of Tonoloway Rod and Gun Club, Hancock.

He attended the Hancock Assembly of God, Hancock.

He is survived by four daughters, Linda Puffenberger, Berkeley Springs, Debbie Morton, Big Cove Tannery, Pa., Jean Tracey, Hancock and Sandra Dallas, Key West, Fla.; one son, Richard Clingerman, Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Miriam Stachowski, Conococheague, Md. and Velma Crouse of Big Cove Tannery; three brothers, Marshall Trail, Chambersburg, Pa., Merle Trail, Hancock and David Trail, Warfordsburg; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Trail and Donald Trail.

A service was held Thursday, August 14 at the Hancock Assembly of God, Rev. Robert D. Smith and Rev. Donald Preston officiated. Burial with a military graveside service by the Tri-State Honor Guard was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Md.

Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.
