Bedford – Mary F. Brooking, 77, of Bedford, died Tuesday, May 03, 2011 at her residence.
Born May 22, 1933 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Francis E. (Pete) and Nova (Reichman) Allen. She married Frank W. Brooking on February 1, 1956 in the First Christian Church and he preceded her in death. She retired as a secretary/receptionist from Adamson Insurance Agency in Bedford. She was a member of the First Christian Church, CWF and the Red Rose Circle at the First Christian Church. She had been a deaconess of the church. Survivors include one son, Greg S. Brooking of Concord, NC; one daughter, Beth Joyner and husband, Larry of Bedford; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Deloris Hornocker and one great granddaughter, Samantha Stanley. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, May 6th at the First Christian Church in Bedford with Rev. Robert Dailey officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday, May 6th at the First Christian Church.
