Allen A. Brammerlo, 76, of Holland, Mich., formerly of Sycamore, Ill., died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Born Jan. 23, 1926, in Preston, Iowa, he was a 1944 graduate of Preston High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for two and a half years and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1951 from the University of Iowa. He married Laura Jane Foltz on May 2, 1953.
He was employed by General Electric Co. for 34 years in DeKalb and in Holland. He was a member of the American Legion and the Board of Professional Engineers.
He enjoyed camping, picnicking and traveling in his motor home, especially in Arizona. He was an avid bowler and auto-racing fan, loving music, sang in the Methodist church choir and was an amateur organist. Allen thoroughly enjoyed his Scottie dog. Most of all, Allen was a wonderful, devoted husband and father who loved family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Laura Jane Brammerlo of Holland; two daughters, Donna Lee (Thomas) Darden of DeKalb and Sue Brammerlo of Sycamore; a sister, Mary (Robert) Kunau of San Antonio, Texas; a sister-in-law, Donna (Donald) Miller of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Michigan, and at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at First Baptist Church in DeKalb at 349 S. Third St., with the Rev. Joanne Adrian officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
A memorial fund is established for the American Diabetes Association in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
