Text: Mr. and Mrs. John R. Spencer (sic) Given a Royal Reception- Were Married at Old St. Paul's- Just fifty years ago- Mr. and Mrs. John R. Spencer were joined in matrimony and Friday night the anniversary was celebrated by a reception given in their honor by Mr. and Mrs. George B. Bradway at their home, 121 Mark Ave. The couple were married in old St. Paul's church, which stood on the site of the present government building. The Rev. Mr. Ashley officiated. Six Children and 20 grandchildren are living to bless their union. Of the former there are Mrs. George B. Bradway, Mrs. Charles Vrooman, Mrs. A. A. Muller, Mrs. Edward Sweeney, Arthur Spencer and John R. Spencer. The reception was held at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Bradway, at 121 Mark Ave. The diding room was prettily trimmed with yellow and potted plants. Mrs. Spencer wore a black silk gown trimmed with lace. Handmade lace undersleeves and handkerchiefs worn at the wedding fifty years ago were part of the toilet last evening. Refreshments were served by three of the grandchildren, Miss Edna Vrooman, Miss Irene Muller and Miss Mildre Bradway. They were daintily dressed in white Miss Corine Redfield entertained with reading and mandolin selection. Miss Marion Bradway rendering several piano compositions. The grandchildren present were Miss Marion Bradway, Miss Ethel Bradway, Miss Mildren Howard Spencer, Master Earl Spencer, Miss Genevieve Spencer, Miss Florence Spencer, Spencer Sweeney, Miss Gertrude Sweeney, Miss Helen Sweeney, Edward Spencer, John Spencer, Miss Margaret Spencer, Miss Harriett Spencer, Miss Millicent Spencer.
