JV Thompson Journals Volume 6: Miss Clara Stevens aged 76 recollections: Upon telling her that her great great grandfather, Jeremiah Jack had been captured by the Indians when his son JOHN was killed by them on Apr 13, 1757, she recalled hearing the elder relatives tell of a party coming to the home of her gg grandmother, Mrs Jack & saying that there was a man across the River (the Potomac) who wanted to see her Upon her going to the river, the man said he wanted to buy the farm. She told him that she could not sell it, that it belonged to her husband who had been carried off by the Indians several years ago & she did not know whether he was alive or dead. (According to Elizabeth Boyd's record made Jan 31, 1859, he was gone 8 or 9 yrs). He then made himself known , he being Jeremiah Jack & had changed so much that his wife didn't know him.

Jeremiah Jack was one of the first settlers on the Potomac River where they were then forters. Will of Jeremiah Jack, proved 11 Aug 1785 names Jeremiah Jack, son of John Jack. This John Jack is a son of Jeremiah Jack, proven through the family bible record of Robert Boyd.
John Jack was married to Sarah SHEARER b: 11 Jun 1729
Married: Abt 1749 in Prob., Frederick, Maryland. After John was killed by the Indians in 1757, Sarah married William Paul. She died in 1800 in Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

1. Jeremiah JACK b: 13 Nov 1750 in Williamsport, Washington County, Maryland
2. John JACK b: 14 Dec 1752 in Prob., Washington County, Maryland
3. Catherine JACK b: 12 Dec 1754
4. Ann JACK b: 9 Oct 1757 in Mill Creek, Berkeley, Virginia
