Lawrence, age 87, passed away at Community Hospital in Onaga. He was the son of Christian and Louise (Graf) Valburg. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1941. He served three years in the US 82nd Airborne Division during World War II in Germany and France in the European Theatre where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He married Donna Lee Carl on April 27, 1946, in Duluth, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, his children, Sharon Blume, Linda Baxter, Cindy Tarvin, and Tony Valburg, his sister, Marjorie Van Volkenburg, 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lloyd Valburg and Olin Valburg.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Duluth. Burial with military honors followed at Onaga Cemetery.
