Levi Blisard is a direct descendent of a Revolutionary Soldier on his mother's side. His Mother was Sarah Norwood Blissard,
and her Mother was Susannah Smith Norwood, who married William Norwood. Susannah Smith's father was a Revolutionary Soldier, Josiah Smith.[Source: Virginia Historical Magazine, Vol 17, Page 193, and Vol. 10, Pages 73 and 358.]

Levi Blisard was originally from Itawamba County, Mississippi. Just prior to 1870, he left Mississippi. To pay for his passage down the Mississippi to the junction of the Red River, he worked on a boat. From there, he caught a boat up the Red River to Jefferson, Texas. He found a caravan of freight wagons going to Clarksville, Paris and Honey Grove. One of the drivers was sick, so he drove one of the wagons close to Annona, Texas. From there, he left the caravan and walked across country to the Southwest toward Garvinsville (now called Cuthand) where his brother, William Thomas Blisard, lived.

Levi Blisard was a school teacher, farmer and rancher. He owned a sawmill, a cotton gin and a general merchandise store. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Friendship #16 at Clarksville, Texas.

He only returned once to Mississippi and that was in 1902 when his mother died.

He died suddenly of a heart attack while climbing a ladder in his merchandise store to retrieve a pair of shoes for a lady.
