After his mother died, abt 1896-7, he married Viola (Yarbrough) YOUNG, in 1899, a widow from Alabama, with three small children, whose husband had died after their removal to I.T. They moved from the Red Oak area in 1900, to the community of Non in Hughes County, OK. They farmed and raised the family there, losing three small children, and one surviving, Perry Alva.
A.H. was a faithful member of the Free Will Baptist church from the time of its organization until his death, and well respected in the community. He was a quiet and agreeable man, didn't say bad things about people, but tried to help if he could. His door was always open to a minister or traveller who needed a place to sleep or a place to eat a meal.
He died peacefully at his home with his family around him, after a brief illness due to heart problems.
