Mrs. Barnes was born Nov. 18, 1911, in Angelina County, Texas to Roberta (Gaston) and Tom Deaton and died Friday,May 16, 2003 in a Longview nursing home.

She was a homemaker and a beloved wife and mother. She was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church of White Oak,TX and had resided in the Longview area most of her life.

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by husband, Lawrence D. Barnes on July 4, 1984.

Survivors: daughter, Nancy Kring of Houston; and son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Laura Barnes of Wood River, Ill.
