He was the fourth of seven children born to Henry Thomas WILLIS and Minnie Lee CAMPBELL.
He served in the USMC during WW II. He enlisted in 1942 and was trained at the San Diego marine base and later served as a rifle instructor. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, New River, NC. Jimmy attended OCS at Quantico, VA, and was commissioned a Lt. on March 11, 1943.
Prior to his enlistment he was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Company in the New Mexico oil fields. Jimmy was a graduate of Anadarko High School and attended Oklahoma A&M.
Jimmy had one of those infectious personalities that you wanted to dislike but just couldn't. He would say and do things during a family gathering that would have people raising their brows, and smiling at the same time. It was said that he was married a number of times.
Jimmy passed away in Saratoga, CA but was laid to rest with the rest of his family in his home town of Anadarko, OK.
