John F. Cronin, of 189 Nepperhan avenue, for 69 years a resident of Yonkers, died this morning, at 6 o'clock, after an illness with pneumonia that began on Sunday. He was born in County Kerry, Ireland, 72 years ago, and at the age of 3 was brought to the United States; the family settled in Yonkers upon arrival here. He was a veteran of the Civil War, being a corporal in the 69th Regiment. At the time of his death he was President of the 69th Regiment— Meagher Irish Brigade. He had served as Commander of Kitching Post, G.A.R. Mr. Cronin was appointed a Truant Officer by the Board of Education, which office he held for 19 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A.; a daughter, Mrs. Vincent Pagnotta, and four sons, Philip E. Henry X., Vincent J. and Raymond V. He was a member of Terrace City Council, No. 433 (133?), C.B.L., Clan na Gael and Ancient Order of Hibernians. The funeral will take place Monday morning with solemn high mass at 10 o'clock in Holy Eucharist Church. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery.
