"Reuben Malott Dies On Tuesday
Reuben E. Malott, 92, 692 [?] east Conger street, died at the Blackford County Hospital Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. of complications. He had been in failing health for the past two years. His last illness began last May and he was admitted to the hospital on September 22.
The body was removed to the Koplinger Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Jesse Martin officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery [aka Hartford City Cemetery]. Friends may call at the mortuary after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Malott was born Nov. 22, 1874, the son of Robert and Amanda J. Niccum Malott, in Wabash County. He married the former Ena A. Briney on July 5, 1930 in Louisville, Ky.
A resident of Blackford County since 1909, Mr. Malott had lived in Montpelier several years prior to moving to Hartford City. He was retired from the Warner Gear plant in Muncie and previously was a farmer.
Surviving other than his wife are four sons, William A., Hartford City, Franklin J., Montpelier, Robert L., Milwaukee, Wis. and Fred, Flint, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Clara) Hammond, Montpelier, Mrs. Ed (Kathryn) Capper, Hartford City and Mrs. Darcy (Opel) Sills, Three Rivers, Mich.; one brother, Bert Malott, Benton Harbor, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Walter Hausafus, Kokomo, 27 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Four children and six brothers are deceased." END
