Succumbs After Year's Illness
Funeral services were to be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home, 420 North Spring Street, for J. Thompson Bragg, 54, for 30 years a commercial salesman who died at his home Friday afternoon at 5 o'clock.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery following rites conducted by the Rev. L. S. Sedberry, pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. T. N. Hayes, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, and Elder Joe Netherland, minister of the East Main Street Church of Christ.
Mr. Bragg was traveling for the Allied Drug Company of Chattanooga when he became ill a year ago. He began his career as a commercial salesman in 1910 representing Henry King and Company.
He was the son of the late W. B. Bragg, a former sheriff of Rutherford county, and Mrs. Susie Thompson Bragg, who survives him.
Mr. Bragg is also survived by his wife, the former Miss Alice Murfree whom he married in 1907; three children, William(,) Joe, and Miss Mary Elizabeth Bragg; two brothers, Brents and Houston Bragg; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Hoover, Mrs. R. C. Reeves, and Mrs. O. M. Stump, all of Murfreesboro.
Honorary pall bearers will be: L. P. Dunn, M. E. Bragg, Hardin Ragland, Jess Jackson, J. D. Rooker, Clarence Lenoir, A. L. Smith, Aubrey Smith, John Jewell, W. T. Delay, Harry Carter, Brice Hughes, Frank McCrary, Herman Rhodes, C. B. Leatherman, Sam Hirsbrunner, Jim Alf Ransom, and Jarman Edwards.
Active: H. M. Tutt, George Potts, George Hart, W. A. Meadows, Pete McCrary, John Shaw, John Landis, Oliver Lytle.
