Jacob was a prominient citizen in Mt Pleasant Township, Adams Co. Throughout his life as a farmer, but also served as Justice of the Peace. His jurisdiction was Mt Pleasant and Straban Township. He took the oath of office on April 27, 1835 to uphold the law of Pennsylvania and the constitution, before James Trimble, Deputy Secretary.
According John Timons Reily, a prominent 19th century historian of the Conewago Valley in Adams County, Jacob also served in the legislature. This needs to be further investigated as to which legislature.
Mary died in 1851, and is buried at the Conewago Chapel in Edge Grove, Adams Co. After he death, Jacob eventually moved to the Buchannan Valley in Franklin Township, Adams County to live with his son Francis.
