Statesboro - Claud B. McGlamery, 79, accidentally drowned late Thursday afternoon while fishing in a pond several miles northeast of Statesboro. McGlamery was reported missing Thursday evening by his son, Georgia Bureau of Investigation official Johnny J. McGlamery of Statesboro, who routinely checked on his father each day, said Bulloch County Sheriff Arnold Ray Akins. McGlamery's body was found about 10:30 p.m.

McGlamery was a native of Bulloch County. He retired from the Statesboro Fire Department as a captain and was a member of Statesboro First Baptist Church.

Also surviving are two other sons, W.M. "Mac" McGlamery of Statesboro and Wendell McGlamery of Decatur; two brothers, Walter E. McGlamery of Statesboro and A. Grady McGlamery of Atlanta; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 2 p.m. today at Statesboro First Baptist Church, burial in Eastside Cemetery. Smith-Tillman Mortuary of Statesboro.
