He died in the St. Edwards Hospital in Cameron. He had suffered a stroke.
He and his wife had no children of their own but they did raise two nieces, Ruth and Edna Kirk, after the death of their mother. After Lon's wife died the niece Ruth continued to live with her uncle. Lon was the last survivor of his immediate family.
