For eleven years he played with the New York Yankees (1920-29), Cincinnati Reds (1930) and in 1925, he led the American League in home runs with 33 and runs batted in with 138. He also hit over .313 seven times and was a member of three New York Yankees World Series Championship teams (1923, 1927, 1928). He concluded his career with a record of 1,693 hits, 826 runs scored, 156 home runs, 1,067 runs batted in and a .309 batting average. He died at 81 in Downey, California.
