Funeral services for Stephen A Douglas Mayes, age 71, Wagoner retired garage owner, were held at 10am today (Tuesday)in the Immanuel Baptist Church, with Pastor Al N Glasgow officiating.
Born April 2, 1891 in Rome, Georgia, he had lived in Wagoner sixty years prior to his death on Sunday, January 27, 1963 in the Eastern Oklahoma State Hospital in Vinita, Oklahoma, after a long illness.
Surviving him are his wife, Frances Helen (Hefley) Mayes; three sons, Vernon of the home, Wayne of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Frank of Salt Lake City, Utah; and 3 grandchildren.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Green Funeral Home of Wagoner, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers were Ottis Flippin, Cletus Geurin, Joe Hefley, Taylor Cole, Norman Hefley and Jim Reich.
