M.J. Channer - Requiem Mass for Malcolm J. Channer will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. John's Episcopal Church with burial in Fairlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Channer, 66, of 3095 N. Norwood Ave. died at 1:35 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Hospital. He was born Sept. 20, 1899, in Bassett, Iowa, a son of John and Daisy Scott Channer.

Before coming to Decatur 10 years ago, he was manager of the Shirk Oil Co. at Oelwein, Iowa. Since moving here, he had been a salesman for the Flint Eaton and Davis & Sly companies.

Channer was a graduate of Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa, and had been superintendent of schools at Waucoma and Guttenberg, Iowa. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where he was a parish warden.

Mr. Channer was a past post commander of the American Legion at Oelwein, Iowa, and past Rotary president and president of the Chamber of Commerce there. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I.

Survivors include his wife Elzora Hubbell Channer: two daughters, Mrs. Frank(Dorothy) Bok, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Powell, Kingsley, Iowa: a son, Dr. John M. Channer, Iowa City, Iowa; a brother Scott Channer, Bassett, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Milfred Little, Iowa City; Mrs. Kenneth (Isabelle) Bunn, Charles City, Iowa; and 11 grandchildren.
