Maj. Philip D. Ambard, 44, of Edmonds, Wash. He was assigned to the 460th Space Communications Squadron, Buckley Air Force Base, Colo. He died April 27, at the Kabul International Airport, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from gunfire. He is survived by Patrick, Josh (Karla), Emily, Alex, and Tim. He instilled in each of them a sense of humor, love/duty of his adopted country, faith, and hard work. He is survived by his wife of almost 23 years. Words can't express the husband he was. They did everything together and they were each other's best friend.
