Jack Vance Brown of 402 Patton Ave., Farrell, formerly of Winchester, Va., passed away peacefully at 7:08 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 88.
Mr. Brown was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Kennerdell to Bernard and Texie Emery Brown.
He was a utility department worker at the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant.
Mr. Brown served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with all of his family. He was of the Baptist faith.
His wife, the former Pauline V. Cooper, whom he married March 21, 1942, survives at home.
Also surviving are his daughter, Gail R. Van Dyke, Farrell; his son, Jerry L. Brown and his wife MaryKay, Fairmont, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Roger A. Brown, who was killed in Vietnam.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Service: Private funeral services will be held today in the funeral home with the Rev. C. Charles Eckles, pastor of IHS Gospel Ministries, Hermitage, officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
