Mrs. J.T. Hunnicutt, 80, died early Friday afternoon, August 3, in the Bulloch County Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Hunnicutt was a resident of Bulloch County for 40 years and a member of the First Methodist Church.
Survivors are her husband, J.T. Hunnicutt; six daughters, Mrs. C.W. Durden of Livingston, La., Mrs. Claude Woods, Mrs. Beatrice Parrish, Mrs. Leon Newsome and Mrs. Ernest Hagins of Statesboro; Mrs. Nesbit Lee of Metter; a son, Sam Hunnicutt of Port Wentworth; a sister, Mrs. Charlie Hunnicutt of Statesboro; four brothers, Joe Fuller of Statesboro, Lucas and Dock Fuller of Eatonton, Calhoun Fuller of Canton; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hunnicutt were held Sunday afternoon, August 5, at 2:30 from the First Methodist Church with Rev. DeWitt Shippey officiating, assisted by Dr. J. Robert Smith. Burial was in East Side Cemetery. Grandsons served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Cliff Bradley, Charlie Olliff Sr., B.B. Morris, Jessie Mikell, J.G. Fletcher, Eli Hodges, Bill Bowen, Dr. C.E. Stapleton, Tink Allen, and Raymond Durden. The body remained at the chapel of Barnes Funeral Home until the funeral hour.
