Joseph N. Taylor, 83, of Sedalia, Missouri, formerly of Front Royal, Virginia, died at his home on Tuesday, April 26, 2011.

Joe was born August 30, 1927, the son of Roy and Lora (Fisher) Taylor.

Joe served in the U.S. Army after high school and then worked as an electrician for Local 672 and Local 26. He was the Business Agent for Local 672 for over 10 years and a loyal member of the IBEW for 61 years.

Joe was an avid bird watcher. He was an authority on blue birds and he had several articles published. He spent much of his spare time establishing blue bird trails in Sedalia and La Monte. Joe was also a life-long member of the Missouri Blue Bird Association and he loved wild flowers and nature.

Joe is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Taylor, of the home; four children, Patricia Hottinger and her husband Eddie, of Front Royal, VA, Joanne Reynolds and her husband Randall, of Richmond, VA, Jody Taylor and his wife Carol, of Front Royal, VA; Barbara Sue Myers and her husband Sonnie, of Fort Valley, VA; one step-son, Bryan Winter and his wife Deborah, of Luray, VA; eight grandchildren, Michael, Steve and Chris Hottinger, Megan and Blakley Reynolds, Lyndsie Myers, Kara Wooddell and Neil Taylor; two step-grandchildren, Breanne Winter and Erica Bauserman; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Forrest Taylor; one sister, Jewell Fowler; and his good friend, neighbor and blue bird buddy, Don Gerke.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ruth Lorene Taylor; and his grandson, Patrick Myers.

Joe's family will celebrate his life with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 with Rev. Tony Chapman officiating at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held in Virginia at a later date.

Joe's family suggests flowers or memorial contributions be made to the Bothwell Hospice or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
