US Congressman. Born in Marion, Kansas, he graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan, was admitted to the bar 1917 and opened a law practice in Marion, Kansas. With the advent of World War I, he organized Company M, 3rd Infantry Regiment, of the Kansas National Guard, was sent to Europe and served as a 1st Lieutenant with the US Army 39th Infantry, 35th Division, during the Argonne Offensive France. After the war, he resumed the practice of law, was a member of the Marion Board of Education and a member of the Kansas State House of Representatives. In 1933, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until 1937. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law, was the United States attorney for the district of Kansas, and a member of the United States Motor Carrier Claims Commission. He died at age 62 in Topeka, Kansas.
