IOLA, KS - Kim A. Mead, 50, of Iola, Kansas, and formerly of Oneida, NY, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Ft. Scott, Kansas.
Mr. Mead was born on Jan. 17, 1956 at Ticonderoga, New York, the son of Floyd "Skip" and Joyce (Whitney) Mead.
He grew up in the Oneida, NY area and graduated from Stockbridge High School in Stockbridge, NY in 1974.
He joined the U.S. Army after graduation and served for 18 years, mostly stationed in Germany, Alaska, and Oklahoma. Mr. Mead was honorably discharged from the service in 1992.
He had made his home in Iola since then. He was a truck driver, currently working for RVB Trucking in Iola.
He was married to Laura M. Heiman on March 17, 1979 in Iola, Kansas.
Surviving are his wife, Laura M. Mead of Iola, KS; one son, David Heiman of Iola, KS; two daughters, Lisa Heiman of Springfield, MO, and Sara Mead of Springfield, MO; one sister, Robin Griff and husband, Doug of Oneida, NY; and one niece and one nephew, Ashley and Geoffrey Griff of Oneida, NY.
He was predeceased by his parents.
