John C. Ervine

John Carson Ervine, 73, of Waldron died at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at West 10th Street Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. He had been in failing health several months.

Bon in Nicholas County, Kentucky on April 15, 1896, he was the son of Andrew and Minnie Hopkins Ervine and had lived in Connersville from 1920 until 3 years ago. He retired from McQuay-Norris Mfg.Co. He had served with the Army in WWI. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Shelbyville, In. He married Effie Welch Snyder on July 14, 1951 in Jeffersonville, In. and she survives.

Also surviving him are a daughter, Juanita (Harold) Brown of Connersville; two sisters, Roxie (Cleveland) Hamilton, Muncie and Clarine Cullison, Connersville; four brothers, Cam Ervine of St. Petersburg, Florida, Ernest and Tony Ervine of Connersville and Vernon Ervine of Rushville; four grandchildren, Kathy Gunnell, Billy Friend, Agnes Short and Barbara Ervine; seven Great Grandchildren; Step sons, Paul Snyder of Lexington, Ky. and Charles Snyder of Connersville and nine step-grandchilren. A son John Allen Ervine preceded him in death on Aug. 17, 1957.

Services were on a Friday at Myers Funeral Home in Connersville. Burial was in Dale Cemetery.
