Phyllis E. Wallace, 77, of Tucson, Ariz., died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Phyllis was born Jan. 3, 1934, in Sumner to Earl and Opal (Johnson) Cramer.

On May 29, 1951, she married Robert "Bob" Wallace in Phillipsburg, Kan. He died April 18, 2011.

Survivors are: sons, Michael and his wife, Karen, and Mark and his wife, Cindy, all of Tucson, and Scott of Kearney; daughter, Alice Bauman and her husband, Ron, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Dwane Cramer of Sumner; brothers-in-law, James Wallace and his wife, Jane, of Loveland, Colo., and Charles Wallace and his wife, LouAnn, of Alamogordo, N.M.; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Kresser of Kearney, Norma Eby of Overton and Darlene Wallace of Nebraska City.

Phyllis and Bob had a successful small farm near Kearney before moving to Tucson. In the early 1970s, Phyllis earned her master's degree in special education from the University of Arizona. She taught in many capacities throughout her life.

Phyllis was a very accomplished quilter and loved sharing her quilts with family and friends. She recently completed numerous quilts to donate to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Phyllis and Bob received great pleasure in spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They enjoyed years of hiking, bicycling, camping, traveling, reading and music. Most recently, they volunteered at Friends of the Library in Tucson and delighted in the company of their fellow volunteers. They relished sharing the humor of everyday life with family and friends.

Phyllis and Bob will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved them.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her much loved daughter-in-law, Laurie Wallace.
