A Civil War veteran, he enlisted at the stated age of twenty-eight in Chambersburg March 14, 1865, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg March 17 as a private with the 87th Pennsylvania Infantry in the second organization of Co. K, and honorably discharged with his company June 29, 1865.
He married Euphemia E. Pepple 1872 in Ortanna, Adams County, and fathered John Harrison (b. 05/22/73), William McClain (b. @1875), Jennie B. (b. 08/06/79, d. 11/01/81), Benjamin (b. 02/28/81), and Calvin (b. 04/??/84). In 1890, he was still living in Franklin Township where he presumably died at the reported age of 54-9-2. His surname was also spelled "Lawver." No obituary was found in any online newspaper archive.
