Edgar Roy Davis was born September 9, 1900 in Washita County, Oklahoma, son of John Thomas Davis (1868-1956) and Texas Furgerson (1870-1953).

The 1910 Federal Census for Oakdale, Oklahoma (Washita County) shows Edgar R. Davis, age 9, born in Oklahoma; living with his father John T. Davis, a farmer. age 41, born in Arkansas; and his mother, Texas, age 40, born in Texas. Also living in the household were Edgar's siblings: William H., age 20; Marion E., age 17; and Minnie L., age 15. All of the children were born in Texas, except Edgar, who was born in Oklahoma.

Edgar Roy Davis of Midwest City, age 82, died at Baptist Medical Center, Thursday, January 13, 1983, after an extended illness. He was born in Washita County, September 9, 1900 and married Verna M. Osmond on September 14, 1924. He had lived in Midwest City for 31 years and was retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and served also in the Navy after the War. He was a member of the Wickline United Methodist Church and the VFW.

Survivors are his wife Verna of the home, 1 daughter, Lucy Light of Norman, 2 grandsons, John Light of Jenks, Oklahoma, and Bruce Light of Houston, Texas, 1 granddaughter Karen Light, 1 great-granddaughter. 1 sister, Minnie L. Penn of Oklahoma City, 1 brother, Marion E. Davis of Chickasha, and a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be 11 am, Saturday, January 15, Rose Hill Cemetery. Dr. Bill Moorer of the Wickline United Methodist Church, Midwest City, officiating. Directed by Hahn-Cook Street and Draper.
