Last Rites for Ralph Sellers Held Monday
Funeral services for Ralph Sellers, whose death occurred Wednesday, September 10, were held Monday, afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Johannsen Funeral Home.
Rev. Donald Corrick, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated and Clifford Burr, accompanied by Mrs. Burr sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Pallbearers were Wellwood Driscoll of Waterloo and Russell Elliott, Martin Morrison, Dean Vaubel, Elmer Reimer and Morris King of La Porte City.
Burial was made in West View cemetery.
Ralph Richard Sellers was born to the late George and Lucy Sellers, March 2, 1905, on a farm near Garrison. He came to a farm in the La Porte City vicinity with his parents when a small boy and later moved to town with them.
On Oct. 21, 1930, he was united in marriage to Darlene King in Galena, Ill.
In Business
At the time of his death he operated the Standard Oil station here. Previously he had worked at the John Deere factory for 10 years and had farmed in the La Porte City vicinity and for six years near Garrison.
He received his education in rural schools and the La Porte City high school. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving his death are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Ben Brown of La Porte City, and Miss Janelle Sellers of Dallas, Tex.; one son Yeoman Ronald Sellers in Korea; one granddaughter, three brothers and four sisters.
