"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 Alfred William "Bill" Bird went home to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 22, 2011 from St. St. Joseph's Hospice. Forever in our hearts until we are together again. Loving husband of Mary (Pilkerton) Bird. Beloved father of Joe (Ashley and her son William), Jon, Jamie and also "dad" to Daniel Plain. Proud grandpa of Joey and Corey. Lovingly remembered by their mother Nona Cottrelle and her daughter Katie. Dear brother of Norma Maness (The Late Carl), Philemon (Genieva) Bird, Muriel Rogers (the late Roy), Linda (Rey) Williams, Irene Bois and Barry Bird. Brother-in-law of Joanne Bird and Joan and David Buck. Beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents Alex (1985) and Eleanor (1995) and brothers Rey (1995) and Larry (2004). Bill was a member for many years of Local 1089 Labour Union and also worked at manufacturing plants in Michigan. His greatest joy was in service for the Lord. He spoke and sang at many native communities in Ontario and also in Michigan. A highlight was when he was asked to minister in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan at their annual Easter or Labour Day meeting. He was always a true and shining example of what it was to live the Christian Life in his own community of Aamjiwnaang. The many who came to the Hospice during his final weeks were touched by his prayers for them and our community.
