She was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a UMW at Amis Chapel United Methodist Church. She attended Lewis Lane Baptist Church. She was devoted and loved to listen to gospel and bluegrass music. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Rosie Robinson Mitchell; two sisters, Carrie Mitchell and Mary Barrett; and three brothers, Charlie Mitchell, Henry Mitchell and Clarence Mitchell.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Gale R. Holt of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Retha) Bledsoe and Mrs. Robert (Rita) DeBord, both of Surgoinsville; a son, Darrell R. Holt and wife Mary, Surgoinsville; four grandchildren, Carley R. Bledsoe and wife Teresa, Jason Holt, Jessica Holt and Joseph DeBord; a step-great-grandson, Stephen Clifton; four sisters, Mrs. Grace Johnson, Surgoinsville, Mrs. Thelma Cowden, Church Hill, Mrs. Hazel Barton, Surgoinsville, and Mrs. Maude Christian of California; a brother, George Mitchell, Church Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. Friends may call any time at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bobby (Retha) Bledsoe, 2117 Carters Valley Road, Surgoinsville.
Services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in the funeral home chapel with Revs. Kenny Hammonds and Jerry Anderson officiating.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Cooper, Ken Woods, Carley Bledsoe, Jason Holt, Phillip Carr, Billy Linkous and Joseph DeBord.
