Update:
Mary Polly Love was born in 1765 +/-in Brunswick Co., Virginia to James Love, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Ingram / Love.

Point of Interest – Named for her mother, Mary Love was likely born in 1765 in Brunswick County, Virginia. Her family migrated through Charlotte and Halifax counties VA, before moving to North Carolina. They lived in Wilkes and Surry Counties, before eventually settling in 1792 along the Rocky River in northeast Mecklenburg County. Within a year of moving to Mecklenburg, the land where the Love family lived was set off to form Cabarrus County.

John III and Mary were married on April 21, 1795 in Rowan Co., North Carolina.

Point of Interest – Dated April 21, 1795, "Polly" Love and John Hagler III registered a marriage bond just to the north in Rowan County. John Hagler III and Mary's brother, Thomas Love, cosigned the bond. For some unknown reason, nine days later, John Hagler III and "Mary" Love again registered a bond for marriage. This time in Cabarrus County, John Hagler III and Daniel Little cosigned the bond. William Polk witnessed the documentation. Since in 1794, a petition arose out of Cabarrus for the construction of public buildings, it is possible John Hagler III believed the newly formed Cabarrus County did not yet have the formal infrastructure to process marriage bonds. Learning of his error, John III was possibly required to post bond in the county where the marriage would take place.

Point of Interest – William Polk, who witnessed the marriage, was directly related to President James K. Polk.

John III and Mary had 8 known children all born in Cabarrus Co., North Carolina :

John E. "Sober John" Hagler IV – Born in 1797. Married Martha Polk in 1820. They had 6 known children. He then married Elizabeth Mullis, sometime prior to 1850 in Anson Co., NC. They had 3 known children. Died in 1870. It is not known where he is buried.

Point of Interest –Martha Polk (John IV) and her sister Margaret (married to John's (III) brother, Peter) were second cousins of President James K. Polk

Point of Interest – John IV was referred to as "Sober John" apparently because after the death of his first wife, Martha, he was seldom seen sober.

James M. Hagler – Born in 1800.
Charles Hagler - Born on July 7, 1803.
Mary Polly Hagler / Garman / Myers – Born in 1806.
Paul Hagler – Born in 1811.
Thomas E. Hagler - Born in 1815 +/-.
Martha Hagler / Sprinkle – Born on May 20, 1816.
Elizabeth Hagler / Hinson (Munson) – Born 1818+/- .

John Hagler (III) died on June 8, 1834. He's buried in the old Love Family Cemetery, near the Old Mount Moriah Church, in Rocky River, NC. And just beside John's resting place, is an unmarked grave that must surely be that of his wife, Mary.

Mary Polly Love / Hagler died sometime between 1847 and 1848.
