Hugh Lance "Tex" Benton, the son of Elihu Parks Benton and Banna Jewel Hill, married Winona E. Gardner the daughter of Tarlton T. Gardner and Sallie Marriner. They were married on August 14th, 1937 in Washington County, North Carolina.

Tex married Ellouise Brown-Escher, the daughter Thurmond Allen Brown and Edda Caroline Arnold. They were married on November 8th, 1952 in Fort Bend County, Texas.
