Pembroke - James Russell Lankford Sr., 77, died March 22 at home.
He was born in Mississippi and lived in Virginia before coming to Pembroke five years ago. He was retired from the Army having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.
Survivors: two sons, James R. Lankford jr., of Alexandria, Va., and Jerry D. Lankford of Stafford, Va.; and four grandchildren, Justine, Jessup, Jolene and Shawn Lankford.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Thursday at Morrison Funeral Home, burial in North Side City Cemetery, Pembroke.
